The European Movement Belgium tasked EU-turn with organising the fiftieth anniversary of the Val Duchesse negotiations, which led to the signature of the Treaties of Rome. The idea was to create, in two and a half months, an event for the general public during the ‘No car day’. Overcoming technical difficulties, EU-turn did everything to manage the organisation of the event as best it could. Our agency looked after the coordination of the different partners and ensured that budgets were kept to, deadlines were met and that the quality of each communication action was ensured.

EU-turn also created two exhibitions in full. We did meticulous research into archived documents to create the first exhibition ‘Val Duchesse 1956-2006’, reproducing the way in which debates took place and what was at stake. The second exhibition took the form of an educational trail, tracing back the history of fifty years of European integration through the EU’s major achievements. EU-turn designed, drafted, put on paper, produced and set up these two exhibitions. Our agency also carried out press relations actions, produced the design and production of posters of the event and thereby ensured media coverage of the event. The then [Belgian] Prime Minister Guy Verhofstadt and European Commission Vice-President Siim Kallas opened the event in the presence of the press. On the day of the event, EU-turn offered its help to the MEB to make sure that the event ran smoothly.

At the end of the day, 15,000 people had discovered Val Duchesse and taken part in the activities.
