50 years of dialogue

Created by the Treaties of Rome, the European Economic and Social Committe (EESC) marked its 50^th anniversary in 2008 with a series of exceptional events. It chose to celebrate its establishment on 28 May 2008 by bringing together its members, its former presidents, European personalities from the political world, from civil society and young citizens to debate the EESC’s place in the future of the EU.

EU-turn took charge of the media campaign for this anniversary with the aim of improving the public’s perception of the EESC. We managed relations with the press and public relations, advertising, the design of a graphic identity for all the festivities and the production of communications products.

EU-turn thereby designed a strong visual identity, making dialogue a central element of the EESC’s work. The visual identity was used on all the information products and widely disseminated via outdoor advertising displays and the written and online press. We produced press dossiers and information dossiers for EESC members. We also developed a precise media plan, targeting the relevant media in each member state. In consultation with the EESC, we selected journalists to invite to attend the celebrations and the press lunch.

The EESC felt the considerable impact of EU-turn’s work by achieving unprecedented visibility. As the exceptional press cuttings show, articles were published throughout Europe, in particular in the major newspapers.
